: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw is held in the club rooms on Monday night’s at 8.00 o’clock. There was no Jackpot winner on Monday 27th November - winning numbers were 13 – 26 – 27 – 30 and the following received a €50 consolation prize – Serena Gallagher, Donegal. P.J. Reilly, Enaghan. Aughnacliffe. Kieran Martin, Colmcille. The Jackpot on Monday last 5th December was €2,300. Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. Thanks to everyone for supporting the G.A.A. Lotto.
A Carol Service will be held at 8.00 pm on this Sunday evening 11th December in Corlisbratten Methodist Church. Everyone is welcome to attend and Supper will be served afterwards.
Church of Ireland Services for the Arva Group of Parishes: On this Sunday 11th December - At 10.00 am in Carrigallen Carol Service-all welcome. At 3.00 pm in Columbkille Carol Service followed by tea and mince pies. All welcome. No service in Arva or Gowna.
Mass Times: in the Parish of Killeshandra - Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva Saturday evening’s 7.00 pm / Sunday morning’s 10.00 am, Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea Sunday morning’s 9.30 am, St Brigid’s Church, Killeshandra Saturday evening’s 8.00 pm / Sunday morning’s 11.00 am. This Thursday 8th December is a Holy Day – Feast of the Immaculate Conception – Vigil Mass this evening at 7.00 pm and Thursday at 10.00 am.
Confessions for Christmas: A Christmas Healing Anointing will accompany the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva at 8.00 pm on Tuesday 20th December. All age groups are invited to this especially Holy occasion in preparation for a Happy and Peaceful Christmas. Visiting priests will be in attendance.

Visitation’s: Parishioners are asked to note that if anyone has a family member in Hospital who would like a Pastoral visit from Fr Bredin please contact him on 087 639 5357 / 4335 246 with Ward details etc. Due to data protection legislation hospitals are not now allowed to give Patient lists to Priests – so they have no way of knowing if a Parishioner is in hospital.

Truly a violin virtuoso, the popular Vladimir Jablokov, visits Cavan with his acclaimed 'Viennese Christmas' programme of festive favourites such as 'Blue Danube', 'Radetzky March', 'Vienna City of Dreams', 'O Holy Night' & many more. From Bratislava, Slovakia, Vladimir arrived in Ireland in 2004 and formed the Slovak Festival Quartet with some friends. A forty-eight piece Slovak Festival Orchestra soon followed. Vladimir has played in the Gaiety Theatre, National Concert Hall, Cork Opera House, Ulster Hall Belfast, Limerick UCH, Dublin’s Mansion House, Marley Park & Áras an Uachtaráin. But he comes to the border counties for the first time on 10th December to the splendid Kilmore Cathedral, with his ensemble (two violins, viola, double bass, piano & drums), whose skill adds a delightful classical twist to some of the greatest melodies ever written, and gives pleasure to audiences of all ages & tastes. ‘Viennese Christmas’ is truly a great seasonal & family occasion.

Christmas Dinner: The Arva Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner will be held in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva on Wednesday of next week - 14th December with Dinner served at 7.30 pm. sharp. Unfortunately this year the committee are forced to put a nominal charge of €5-00 per person but they assure everyone of a great night of music, song and craic and Santa will visit.
A " Christmas Fair and Poultry Sale" will take place in St Patrick’s Hall Arva on Saturday of next week - 17th December from 11am to 2pm. All proceeds going to SVP local branch. The Senior Citizens Committee will hold a second hand Book Stall at the Fair and all proceeds from this Stall will go towards the Senior Citizens Fund.
Breffni 20 K: The Cheque Presentation was cancelled on Friday 18th November and will now take place on this Friday 9th December at 10.00 pm in the Breffni Arms Hotel and Leisure Complex, Arva. If there is anyone that still have outstanding Sponsorship Cards for the Breffni 20 K please, please return them to Arva Post Office or The Friends of St Luke’s, Rathgar, Dublin 6.
A.G.M: The Annual General Meeting of the Show Committee will be held on tomorrow Thursday - 8th December - at 9.00 pm in the Resource Centre, Market Square, Arva. All members are requested to attend and new members are always welcome.
Carol Service: when Santa visits Arva on this Saturday - 10th December - the usual Carol Service will take place at the Market Square to greet the great man. This year it will have additional voices as the Folk Group will be joined by their friends from the other local churches. The Carol Service will commence at 3.30 pm and will continue until approximately 4.00 pm when the local school children will join in to sing their welcome for Santa. Everyone is invited to come along and lend your support. Santa will officially Switch – on the lights on the Christmas Tree on the Market Square and the town lights. Following this he will proceed around the town and back up to St Patrick’s Hall where he will distribute gifts to all the boys and girls from the general area.
Shop Local: With the countdown on for Christmas we appeal to everyone in the area to try and shop locally where they will get all their needs at prices as good as in the big towns. These local shops provide sponsorship towards local voluntary organisations on an ongoing basis and also give employment so we should support them at all times. Also when sending Christmas cards try to send Irish made cards.
Funky Fashions: are holding a launch night in the Brewery, Main Street, Arva at 9.00pm this Friday the 9th December. Offering a fantastic selection of Funky Wellies, Hat, Scarves, Gloves, Headbands, Jewellery, Accessories, Novelty Xmas Gifts and Hampers and lots, lots more. Come along and enjoy the festivities and receive your free cocktail on viewing.
St Mary's National School, Arva: The Parents' Association of St Mary’s National School, Arva will make a presentation to Maebh Rehill in the school on this Friday next 9th December at 3.00 pm. to mark her departure from the school. During her time in Arva Maebh endeared herself to both the pupils and parents for al the work she undertook on their behalf. All parents and pupils (past and present) are welcome to attend.
