Div 3 Arva 1-10 Kildallan 2-4
The Division 3 game was a tough encounter with hard knocks given and taken on both sides. It was a major boost for Arva to win the game and puts them on top of the Division 3 League table for the first time in many years. The home side started in lively fashion and had 2 pointed frees inside 7 minutes but the visitors gradually got into the game and Peter Morris pointed a free in the 10th minute to open their account. Gavin Doyle (12th minute), Paul Brady (14th minute) and Morris again (16th minute) put Arva into the lead. The home side pulled one back in the 23rd minute and then disaster struck when Ballyconnell worked the ball back up the field and shot to the net to give them a 2 point lead. But this only spurred on the visitors and 3 points from Morris in the last 3 minutes put them in front at the break – 0-7 to 1-3.

The second half was only started when in a goalmouth scramble the ball ended up in the Arva net. Calls for a “Square Ball” from both the Arva Umpire and players went unheeded by the Referee but as in the first half they upped the ante once again and Gavin Doyle took the ball from 40 yards out and soloed to the 14 yard line before unleashing a shot to the roof of the Ballyconnell net. At that stage at least 2 defenders were tackling him but Doyle showed his class under pressure. Arva had pointed frees from Morris in the 12th and 25th minutes to put them 3 points clear before the home side got their only point of the half in the 26th minute. Perhaps it was fitting that the last score of the game fell to Kevin Bouchier (who worked hard throughout) when he sent over a great score in the 27th minute. Incredibly the Referee played 37 minutes in the second half but despite incessant pressure the Arva lads stood firm and were deserving winners.
Arva Team - Darragh Fox, Conor Mc Entee, James Morris, Philip Galligan, Stephen Ellis, Sean Mc Manus , Shane Finnegan, Sean Donnelly, Fergal Mc Glade, Paul Brady (0-1), Thomas Brady, Kevin Bouchier (0-1), Gavin Doyle (1-1), Peter Morris (0- 7), Raymond Daly. Sub – Conor Barry, Danny McEntee.
On this Saturday evening they must travel again - this time to Bawnboy to play Templeport in Division 3 and here again they will be up against a very strong home side. Past victories will have no bearing on this game as these 2 sides usually have very little between them when they meet. All support welcome – Throw-in 7.00 pm. On Sunday the Reserve team must travel to Bailieboro to play the home side with a starting time of 1.00 pm.
