Div 3 Arva 1-7 Templeport 0-7
Arva travelled to Bawnboy on Saturday evening last for Round 6 in the Division 3 League against Templeport and after a dour struggle they again emerged victorious to hold their place at the top of the league table. Arva started brilliantly but flattered to deceive – they had 1-1 on the score board through a Peter Morris free (6th min) and a great goal from Thomas Brady a minute later. The home side opened their account in the 11th minute with a point but Morris replied for Arva in the 12th minute. That was to be Arva’s last score of the first half as the home side hit 5 further points to take the lead just before half time on a score 0-6 to 1-2.

The visitors were out of the traps on the restart and points from Kevin Bouchier in the 1st minute, Morris (free) in the 3rd minute, Gavin Doyle 6th minute, and Morris with another free in the 9th minute to lead by a goal 1-6 to 0-6. Templeport could only manage 1 point in the second half while Bouchier closed the scoring in the 21st minute with a beauty. Due to the rain which fell during the game the underfoot conditions were not conducive to good football with players slipping and sliding and both sides hit many wide’s as a result. Arva will be happy to take the points as they have Shannon Gaels as visitors to Michael Cully Park on Friday evening next at 8.15 pm.
Arva team – Conor Barry, Conor Mc Entee, James Morris, Philip Galligan, Stephen Ellis, Sean Mc Manus , Shane Finnegan, Sean Donnelly, Fergal Mc Glade, Paul Brady, Thomas Brady (1-0), Kevin Bouchier (0-2), Gavin Doyle (0-1), Peter Morris (0- 4), Raymond Daly. Subs – Alan Barry, Brian Ellis, Danny Mc Entee.
