Div 3 Arva 2-19 Corlough 0-08
On Sunday last Corlough were visitors to Michael Cully Park for a postponed game in the Division 3 League and on a balmy afternoon the home side totally over-ran the visitors in the second half scoring 2-12 to the visitors 0-2.Arva were full value for their 2-19 to 0-8 victory and it was great to see some of the more senior players find their form after numerous injuries, etc. The sides were evenly enough matched in the first half and at the interval Arva led by the minimum – 0-7 to 0-6 but the home supporters could not have foreseen what was to follow.

Corlough opened the scoring with a point inside 20 seconds but we had to wait until the 4th minute for Peter Morris to open the Arva account with a similar score. Corlough took the lead again in the 6th minute but frees from Brian Ellis (9 minutes) and David Bouchier (11 minutes) put the home side in front. Corlough levelled 2 minutes later and went in front once more in the 15th minute. Thomas Brady levelled the scores for the 4th time a minute later but again the visitors went ahead in the 20th minute. It was tit for tat as Alan Barry levelled in the 22nd minute only for the visitors to again regain the lead in the 24th minute. With 29 minutes gone Peter Morris levelled for the 6th time in the game and with a minute of injury time played David Bouchier put the home side in front with a well taken free to leave the half time score 0-7 to 0-6.

Arva hit the ground running when the second half got underway and points from Conor Mc Entee (1 min), Peter Morris (2 min) and David Bouchier (3 min) consolidated their lead. Following a good upfield movement Thomas Brady got possession and blasted the ball to the net in the 7th minute. Points followed from Morris (10 min) and Ellis (11th & 13th min) and as the home side visibly slowed up Corlough got more into the game. They were rewarded with their only scores of the second half in the 20th & 21st minutes as the home side upped the pace once more. Arva points followed from Gavin Doyle (22 min) and a Bouchier free (25 min) before Brian Ellis got possession about 25 yards out and lifted the roof of the net with an unstoppable shot. Further points followed from Morris (26th & 32nd min) and Doyle (30th & 31st min) to leave Arva worthy winners 2-19 to 0-8.

Well done lads on an excellent second half display yesterday. The defense was excellent throughout. I hope ye kick on now and bring this performance into the next championship game against Shannon Gaels.
