Div 3 Arva 2-7 Ballymachugh 0-7
Arva had Ballymachugh as visitors to Michael Cully Park on Friday evening last and continued their unbeaten run in the Division 3 League with a hard earned victory. The visitors opened their account in the 18th minute with a pointed free and had further points in the 20th and 23rd minutes while Morris pointed a free for the home side in the 25th minute. Ballymachugh had the last score of the half with a pointed free in the 27th minute to leave the half time score Arva 2-4 Ballymachugh 0-4. In what was a tight tackling second half both sides only managed 3 points with the Arva scores coming from Sean Mc Manus and 2 pointed frees from Morris. The Arva defence were under sustained pressure for the closing 10 minutes as the visitors fought for the goal that would offer them a lifeline but the home side stood firm and collected the league points. To be fair to Ballymachugh they were short a number of players which would have made a big difference to them.
Arva team - Darragh Fox, Conor Mc Entee, James Morris, Stephen Ellis, Dermot Mc Glade, Sean Mc Manus (0-1), Alan Barry, Sean Donnelly, Fergal Mc Glade, Paul Brady (0-1), Thomas Brady (1-0), Kevin Bouchier, Gavin Doyle (0-1), Peter Morris (1-4), Raymond Daly. Sub – Barry Mc Hugh.

Arva are now sitting proudly in second place in the League table with Shannon Gaels on 8 points. The Gaels are on top through a 4 points score difference but Arva cannot rest on their laurels as they face into extremely difficult games over the coming weeks with away games to Kildallan in Ballyconnell First Ulster’s Park this Saturday evening. The Reserve League game is timed for 5.30 pm with the Division 3 game at 7.00 pm and we urge as many supporters as possible to come along and cheer on the players.
