Div 3 Shannon Gaels 3-6 Arva 1-4The visitors totally controlled the first half in which they scored 2-4 to 1-1 for Arva. The Gaels had a couple of outstanding players and nothing seemed to be going right for the home side. Arva were already 1-4 down when Gavin Doyle opened their account with a point in the 19th minute and there were whoops of joy as Peter Morris shot to the Gaels net 2 minutes later. Their joy was short lived as The Gaels scored another goal in the 25th minute when a long speculative shot went over the heads of backs and forwards and into the net.
Arva upped the ante in the second half and wrestled control but their shooting let them down and they could only manage 3 points while the visitors scored 2 points and just before the long whistle they put the icing on the cake with a goal in added time. Arva team – Conor Barry, Conor Mc Entee, James Morris, Philip Galligan, Stephen Ellis, Sean Mc Manus , Shane Finnegan, Sean Donnelly, Fergal Mc Glade, Brian Ellis, Thomas Brady , Kevin Bouchier (0-2), Gavin Doyle (0-1), Peter Morris (1-1), Raymond Daly. Subs – Shane Bouchier. Arva are now level on points with Swanlinbar and Shannon Gaels but are down in third place due to scoring averages. They are away to Swanlinbar on Sunday for both Division 3 and Reserve games and the Division 3 side will get it hard to raise their game for this important challenge. All support will be appreciated.
