Div 3 Corlough 1-13 Arva 2-15Arva opened their domestic league campaign last weekend with mixed fortunes loosing the Division 3 reserve game to Ballyhaise while defeating Corlough in Division 3 – both games at the away venues. Arva were up against a very strong Ballyhaise side on Saturday evening and were beaten by 3 – 9 to 1 – 5 with Bryan Mc Entee (1-0), Philip Brady (0-2), Jim Giblin (0-1), Dessie Dobson (0-1), Nicky O’ Hara (0-1) the scorers.
On Sunday there was a great display with Arva coming out on top by 2 – 15 to 1 – 13 following a very hard hitting but sporting encounter. Peter Morris was top scorer with a final tally of 1-8 while Raymond Daly (1-1), David Bouchier (0-3), Brian Ellis (0-2) and Kevin Bouchier (0-1) were the other Arva scorers. Arva team Darragh Fox, Paul Brady, Fergal Mc Glade, Shane Bouchier, Stephen Ellis, Sean Mc Manus (Capt), Alan Barry, James Morris, Gavin Doyle, Brian Ellis, David Bouchier, Kevin Bouchier, Raymond Daly, Peter Morris, Barry Mc Hugh. Subs Conor Barry, Richard Keith, Cian Sheridan, Dean Harrington, Raymond Brady. Arva were without the services of a number of what would have been first choice players but those on the pitch played for the honour of the jersey and will be hard moved when injuries have cleared up. Despite all the rain of the previous days the well appointed Corlough pitch was in great condition and helped in no small way towards the enjoyment of both players and spectators. The club wishes to thank Corlough for their hospitality and expect another top class tussle when they meet in the championship later in the year. The next round of the league will be home games for Arva against Laragh Utd on Sunday week.
