On Saturday evening last Arva had local rivals and near neighbours Cornafean as visitors to Michael Cully Park for a game in the John Brady Insurances Division 3 League and after a tough encounter the sides were level at the finish on 9 points each.

Arva spurned a number of easy chances early on with at least 6 wide's from scoreable positions which made the difference in the end. Too be fair the visitors hit the upright on 2 occasions in the second half so a draw was probably a fair result in the end. Cornafean opened up a 3 point lead by the 8th minute with 2 points from frees and one from play. Arva replied with points from Peter Morris (Free) in the 13th minute and a fine effort by Gavin Doyle from out near the sideline a minute later.

On Saturday evening last Arva returned to Swanlinbar to play the home side in the John Brady Insurances Division 3 League and came away with a well deserved victory. There was a very unsporting incident before the game got underway as the Arva players were kicking around at the goals nearest the Dressing rooms. The Swad players came out and insisted that was their goals and could very easily have caused a row.
Arva were in total control for the first 15 minutes but only had 4 points to show for all their endeavours with David Bouchier, Peter Morris, Paul Brady and Gavin Doyle on target. Arva recorded a number of wides from scoreable positions and sent at least 6 more into the goalkeepers arms. The home side got a point in the 13th minute but disaster struck for Arva when the ball fell at the feet of a Swad forward and he toe poked it into the net. After all the Arva dominance the sides were level.
The home side added on 2 more pointed frees to lead at the interval by 1-3 to 0-4. James Morris opened the scoring in the second half but the home side added 4 points in a row to lead by 1-7 to 0-5 after 12 minutes. David Bouchier got an Arva point in the 15th minute but Swad replied a minute later. Arva took control from here to the finish and a Peter Morris point in the 17th minute was followed by goals from Shane Bouchier (Penalty), Gavin Doyle and Conor Mc Entee to give Arva 5 point victory on a score line 3-7 to 1-8.

On Sunday last Arva travelled to Killygarry to play the home side in the Lakeside Manor Hotel Division 6 League but were defeated by the minimum after missing numerous easy chances.
Both sides exchanged pointed fres in the opening minutes with Niall Fox on target for Arva. It took 15 minutes to get the next score another pointed free for the home side after which they added two more. Arva had 2 pointed frees in the 26th & 29th ADVERTISEMENT
minutes through Sean Donnelly & David Bouchier while the home side had a similar score in the 23rd minute to leave it 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval. Arva started the second half in more determined fashion and were on level terms after 7 minutes through Gavin Doyle and Danny Mc Entee. Despite dominating the play for the next 15 minutes Arva had just 1 point for their efforts when Peter Morris was on target in the 19th minute. Killygarry scored 3 points in a row and led by 2 points with 8 minutes left but the visitors could only get a pointed free in return to leave the full time score Killygarry 0-8 Arva 0-7. This was definitely one that "got away" and the lack of their own training pitch is obviously telling as some of their scoring efforts were really poor. Ballyhaise 2-9
St Joseph's 0-5
An impressive Ballyhaise side, lead by superb centre-forward Kevin Tierney, proved too strong for St Joseph’s in a rain-sodden O’Connell Park, Milltown last Monday afternoon.
The Killeshandra-Arva amalgamation will rue 16 wides over the hour, 13 of which came in the first half, as Ballyhaise made better use of their possession and adapted much more efficiently to the blustery conditions.
The excellent Tierney opened the scoring just moments into the game with a neat right-footed point from the right wing, but it was St Joe’s who went on to dominate the opening quarter.
In tough conditions, Ballyhaise struggled to move the ball past their own half -back line at times but their opponents failed to capitalise on their territorial advantage and recorded a succession of wides.
Eventually in the 13th minute Kevin Bouchier laid off to the onrushing Shane O’Reilly – who had an excellent first half – and the latter slotted over on the run.
Ballyhaise had a rare foray upfield when Christopher Reilly had a a shot at goal blocked and from the subsequent attack, Ballyhaise keeper Steven Colwell intercepted smartly a Bouchier cross-square pass to Cian Sweeney.
The game threatened to spill over at this stage as referee MG Brady struggled to keep the match under control. The Mullahoran official yellow-carded Aidan Moran and James Morris after one unseemly incident in the 21st minute.
