Div 3 Arva 0-8 Baileboro 3-12
Arva had a home game against Bailieboro on Sunday last in the Division 3 League which they moved to the 3G Pitch in Kingspan Breffni Park. Due to the continuous rain our own field was unplayable and the 3G is busy on a full time basis. Arva were short a number of players – James Morris, David and Kevin Bouchier, Dermot and Fergal Mc Glade, Cian Sheridan, Paul Brady and two others were under the weather all week.

Pictured Above: Arva's Peter Morris taking a free.
The loss thru injury of Shane Finnegan at half time didn’t help the cause either. This was not an ideal situation for a game against a club that are more used to playing in Division 1 or 2 and the result was on the cards from early on in the second half. The final score was 3-12 to 0-8 in favour of the east Cavan side and in truth it reflected their overall superiority. A physically stronger team they also had pace and passion in abundance but the Arva players fought to the final whistle even though their cause was lost. Arva now have a few weeks to regroup and hopefully get all players back to fitness and with a full squad will look forward to the return game in Bailieboro. Then they will know how much progress they are making.
Arva team and scorers: John Kiernan, Stephen Ellis, Sean Mc Manus, Shane Finnegan, Alan Barry, Thomas Brady, Conor Mc Entee, Ciaran Brady (0-1), Jonathan Mc Cabe (0-1), Bryan Mc Entee, Gavin Doyle (0-1), Damien Simpson, Brian Ellis, Peter Morris (0-5), Conal Sheridan.
Sub’s – Niall Fox, Darren Gray, Ciaran Cooney, Raymond Daly, Paul Bouchier.

League: Arva got their Division 3 League campaign off to a great start on Sunday last in St Aidan’s Park, Bawnboy where they accounted for Templeport by 4 point’s on a score of 1-10 to 1-6. Arva started well and led by 0-6 to 0-2 at the interval and were leading by 9 points midway through the second half 1-9 to 0-3 – the goal coming from Gavin Doyle following a great upfield move. The home side finished strongly with a goal and 3 points but it wasn’t enough and the visitors took home the points. On Sunday next Arva will play Bailieboro in Michael Cully Park and this should be a much harder game with the visitors relegated from Division 2 last year. The last time Bailieboro played in Arva was in the late ‘80’s when both teams were going well in Division 1. The game is due to throw in at 2.00 pm and we appeal to all supporters to come out and support the team.
